IF YOU'RE EVERY GONNA PLAY IN TEXAS (YOU GOTTA HAVE A FIDDLE IN THE BAND)

If you're gonna play in Texas, you gotta have a fiddle in the band
That lead guitar is hot but not for Lousiana Man
So rosin up that bow for Faded Love and let's all dance
If you're gonna play in Texas, you gotta have a fiddle in the band

I remember down in Houston we were puttin' on a show
When a cowboy in the back stood up and yelled, Cotton-Eyed Joe
He said we love what you're doin', boys don't get us wrong
There's just somethin' missin' in your song

If you're gonna play in Texas, you gotta have a fiddle in the band
That lead guitar is hot but not for Lousiana Man
So rosin up that bow for Faded Love and let's all dance
If you're gonna play in Texas, you gotta have a fiddle in the band

So we dusted off our boots and put our cowboy hats on straight
Them Texans raised the roof when Jeff opened up his case
You say y'all all wanna two-step you say ya wanna doe-si-doe
Well, here's your fiddlin' song before we go

If you're gonna play in Texas, you gotta have a fiddle in the band
That lead guitar is hot but not for Lousiana Man
So rosin up that bow for Faded Love and let's all dance
If you're gonna play in Texas, you gotta have a fiddle in the band

If you're gonna play in Texas, you gotta have a fiddle in the band
That lead guitar is hot but not for Lousiana Man
So rosin up that bow for Faded Love and let's all dance
If you're gonna play in Texas, you gotta have a fiddle in the band

MANDY

I remember all my life raining down as cold as ice
A shadow of a man a face through a window
Crying in the night the night goes into

Morning just another day happy people pass my way
Looking in their eyes I see a memory
I never realized how happy you made me oh Mandy

Well you came and you gave without taking
But I sent you away oh Mandy
Well you kissed me and stopped me from shaking
And I need you today oh Mandy

I Walked away on the edge of time I walked away when love was mine
Caught up in a world of uphill climbing
The tears are in my eyes and nothing is rhyming oh Mandy

Well you came and you gave without taking
But I sent you away oh Mandy
Well you kissed me and stopped me from shaking
And I need you today oh Mandy, oh oh no no

Yesterday's a dream I face the morning
Crying on the breeze and the pain is calling, oh Mandy

Well you came and you gave without taking
But I sent you away oh Mandy
Well you kissed me and stopped me from shaking
And I need you today oh Mandy
Well you came and you gave without taking
But I sent you away oh Mandy
Well you kissed me and stopped me from shaking
And I need you today oh Mandy, oh oh no no

Oh Jessi

Da hier ja länger nichts geschrieben wurde, reich ich mal den Text von "The Boxer" rüber ... Bild

The Boxer (Text und Musik von Paul Simon & Art Garfunkel)

I am just a poor boy and my storys seldom told
Ive squandered my resistance for a pocketful of mumbles, such are promises
All lies and jest, still the man hears what he wants to hear
And disregards the rest, hmmmm

When I left my home and my family, I was no more than a boy
In the company of strangers
In the quiet of the railway station, runnin scared
Laying low, seeking out the poorer quarters, where the ragged people go
Looking for the places only they would know

Li la li...

Asking only workmans wages, I come lookin for a job, but I get no offers
Just a comeon from the whores on 7th avenue
I do declare, there were times when I was so lonesome
I took some comfort there

Now the years are rolling by me, they are rockin even me
I am older than I once was, and younger than Ill be, thats not unusual
No it isnt strange, after changes upon changes, we are more or less the same
After changes we are more or less the same

Li la li...

And Im laying out my winter clothes, wishing I was gone, goin home
Where the new york city winters arent bleedin me, leadin me to go home

In the clearing stands a boxer, and a fighter by his trade
And he carries the reminders of every glove that laid him down or cut him
til he cried out in his anger and his shame
I am leaving, I am leaving, but the fighter still remains
Yes he still remains

Li la li...
Music was my first Love and it will be my last !!!

Da es eines meiner Lieblingssongs ist, darf dieser Text natürlich nicht fehlen :

Fields of Athenry

Through lonely prison walls, I heard a young man calling
Michael they are taking you away
For you stole Trevelyn's corn,
so the young might see the morn
Now a prison ship lies waiting in the bay

Low lie the field of Athenry
Where once we watched the small free birds fly
Our love was on the wing, we had dreams and songs to sing
It's so lonely round the fields of Athenry

Trough lonely prison walls, she watched the last star falling
Nothing matters, Mary when you're free
Against the Famine and the Crown
I rebelled, they ran me down
And you must rase our child with dignity

Low lie...

Trough lonely prison walls, she watched the last star falling
As the prison ship sailed out against the sky
For she live in hope and pray
for her lovely Botany Bay
It's so lonely round the field of Athenry

Low, low lie...

it's so lonely round the field of Athan Rye
Music was my first Love and it will be my last !!!

Ebenfalls immer gern gehört.....

I´ll tell my ma

Tell my ma when I go home,
The boys won't leave the girls alone,
They pulled my hair and stole my comb,
But that's all right 'till I go home.
She is handsome, she is pretty
She is the belle of Belfast city,
She is courting, one two three
Please won't you tell me who is she?

Albert Mooney says he loves her,
All the boys are fighting for her,
Knock on the door and they ring the bell
Oh my true love, are you well?
Here she comes, as white as snow,
Rings on her fingers and bells on her toes,
Old Johnny Mary she says she'll die
If she doesn't get the boy with the roving eye.

Tell my ma when I go home,
The boys won't leave the girls alone,
They pulled my hair and stole my comb,
But that's all right 'till I go home.
She is handsome, she is pretty
She is the belle of Belfast city,
She is courting, one two three
Please won't you tell me who is she?

Let the wind and the rain and the hail blow high
And the snow come tumbling from the sky
She's as nice as apple pie
She'll get her own boy, by and by
When she gets a lad of her own,
She won't tell her ma 'till she comes home,
Let the boys stay as they will,
For it's Albert Mooney she loves still.

Tell my ma when I go home,
The boys won't leave the girls alone,
They pulled my hair and stole my comb,
But that's all right 'till I go home.
She is handsome, she is pretty
She is the belle of Belfast city,
She is courting, one two three
Please won't you tell me who is she?

Tell my ma when I go home,
The boys won't leave the girls alone,
They pulled my hair and stole my comb,
But that's all right 'till I go home.
She is handsome, she is pretty
She is the belle of Belfast city,
She is courting, one two three
Please won't you tell me who is she?

Tell my ma when I go home,
The boys won't leave the girls alone,
They pulled my hair and stole my comb,
But that's all right 'till I go home.
She is handsome, she is pretty
She is the belle of Belfast city,
She is courting, one two three
Please won't you tell me who is she?

The irish Rover

n the year of our Lord, eighteen hundred and six,
We set sail from the Coal Quay of Cork
We were sailing away with a cargo of bricks
For the grand City Hall in New York
We'd an elegant craft, it was rigged 'fore and aft
And how the trade winds drove her
She had twenty-three masts and she stood several blasts
And they called her the Irish Rover

There was Barney Magee from the banks of the Lee
There was Hogan from County Tyrone
There was Johnny McGurk who was scared stiff of work
And a chap from Westmeath named Malone
There was Slugger O'Toole who was drunk as a rule
And fighting Bill Tracy from Dover
And your man Mick McCann, from the banks of the Bann
Was the skipper on the Irish Rover

We had one million bags of the best Sligo rags
We had two million barrells of bone
We had three million bales of old nanny goats' tails
We had four million barrells of stone
We had five million hogs and six million dogs
And seven million barrells of porter
We had eight million sides of old blind horses' hides
In the hold of the Irish Rover

We had sailed seven years when the measles broke out
And our ship lost her way in a fog
And the whole of the crew was reduced down to two
'Twas myself and the captain's old dog
Then the ship struck a rock, Oh, Lord what a shock
And nearly tumbled over
Turned nine times around - then the poor old dog was drowned
I'm the last of the Irish Rover

BLACK AND TANS

I was born on a Dublin street where the Royal drums do beat
And the loving English feet they tramped all over us
And each and every night when me father'd come home tight
He'd invite the neighbors outside with this chorus

Chorus:
Oh, come out you black and tans Come out and fight me like a man
Show your wife how you won medals down in Flanders
Tell them how the IRA made you run like hell away
From the green and lovely lanes of Killeshandra

Come let me hear you tell how you slammed the great Parnell
When you fought them well and truely persecuted
Where are the smears and jeers that you bravely let us hear
When our heros of sixteen were executed

Come tell us how you slew those brave arabs two by two
Like the zulu's they had spears and bows and arrows
How you bravely slew each one with your sixteen pounder gun
And you frightened them poor natives to their marrow

The day is coming fast and the time is here at last
When each yeoman will be cast aside before us
And if there be a need sure my kids will sing Gods speed
With a verse of two of Steven Beehan's chorus
Music was my first Love and it will be my last !!!
